CBD Myths Sorted!

We keep banging on about it but CBD is new to the mainstream UK market and is complicated and understandably does have a lot of common misconceptions.

Here are a few common queries we often get asked. We hope they help unwrap some queries you may also have. If not, please don't be shy and do get in touch and ask one of the team directly.

Can you get high from CBD?

No! Unlike THC, which has all the psychoactive properties that come from the cannabis plant. CBD has no psychoactive properties or effects. This is the reason CBD is legal and THC is not.

Is CBD legal?

Yes, any CBD oil that is produced using hemp plants is 100% legal to buy and consume in the UK. Under UK law, it is legal to sell CBD oil products as long as they contain no more than 0.2% THC.

Can you take too much CBD or overdose?

Once your body has absorbed as much CBD as it can, it will not absorb anymore and will be excreted out of the body through urination and sweat! There are no known cases of CBD overdose.

Is CBD addictive?

CBD exhibits no potential of dependency – as stated in a report from the World Health Organisation.

CBD is just another word for cannabis isn’t it?

No, CBD does stem from the cannabis gene, but the cannabis you’re referring to is marijuana. The plants hemp and marijuana are related but not the same. Both derived from cannabis (from the cannabis genus), both plants have cannabinoids, including CBD, but one difference means hemp is legal and marijuana is not. This is due to marijuana having elevated levels of THC, as where hemp contains less than 0.2% THC but an abundance of CBD.

CBD is just for epilepsy suffers

Whilst CBD has been proven to hugely reduce the negative symptoms of epilepsy, it has also been incorporated into the daily routine of millions of people to tackle an abundance of different health and wellness ailments or just to support a healthy lifestyle. Studies support positive effects of CBD from mild sleep struggles, all the way through to Chronic Fatigue, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR).

I’ve never had CBD oil before, what should I do?

The best way to experience CBD is through building up your dosages until you find your sweet spot. We say to ‘start low and slow’. This will result in you receiving the maximum benefits whilst wasting no CBD. We recommend that you start off with one droplet of CBD under the tongue in the morning and one at night, and to repeat this for 3 days. Then increase to two droplets, and then three droplets. Do this until you reach the amount that is right for you. The MHRA maximum recommended daily dose is 200mg, and the FSA maximum recommended daily dosage of 70mg. The packaging will inform you of the specific dosage per drop.

You might find huge benefit off 2 droplets but then not see any more of a difference when increasing to 3 droplets. This would indicate you should stick to 2 droplets in order to not waste any CBD (or money!).

Keep the droplets under your tongue for at least 2 minutes, this allows the CBD to be absorbed into your bloodstream. You cannot take too much CBD – once your body has absorbed as much CBD as it can, it will not absorb anymore and will be excreted out of the body.

CBD has to be prescribed

CBD is considered as a food supplement and therefore a license is not required to sell it. The type of cannabis that does require a license and can only be prescribed by a doctor is the form that has THC in it (the illegal component). We do recommend speaking to doctor for severe ailments.
